Soap Making Fragrance Oils

When buying soaps commercially, most people are interested in what the soap smells like. This is because fragrance is a very important part of any soap. If a fragrance is too strong, people will not want to use the soap, if a fragrance is too mild, people will not appreciate the effort put into making the soap smell good.

Soap making fragrance oils are therefore an integral part of making soap. Since the scent of your soap can make a big difference in your end product, and people will pay attention to this smell, you should also pay attention to the soap making fragrance oils you choose.

Oils used in making soap can be used for fragrance and can be used for their properties as well. Some sweet smelling oils have properties that can heal, soothe, and moisturize the skin. Before adding any of the soap making fragrance oils to your soap, you have to be sure that you are aware of the properties of the oils themselves.

If you are using essential oils, you also have to keep in mind that you will need to add a carrier oil in order to dilute the strength of the essential oil. Also remember to be careful with your oil mixes, especially when you are blending scents together. You may end up creating a terrible scent even if the two scents you began with both smelled good.

Finally, keep in mind which part of which process you need to add your soap making fragrance oils. Some processes require you to add the oil mid-process, while others need you to wait till trace has been achieved. Often it also depends on the properties of the oil and how it will affect the steps of making soap.

Here is a short list of just some oils you can consider for soap making:

  • Canola
